This can always be seen in families or other social cultures where relations have been built and one persons behavior is due to change based on judgment from love ones or someone that has an attachment emotionally and who’s input regardless of the extent would hold a certain amount of significance. Informal social control is usually proven to work because when a persons behavior is judged by a love one as impropriate it would be likely to change to prevent being viewed in a negative light by love ones. One of the oldest measures of informal social control is physical force. Physical force has always been proven as successful measure because it leave s no room for non confrontational resolution. Though this measure has proven itself successful it is rarely implemented because it goes against the rules of civilization in society. The use of social control mechanisms alternates depending on the environment and interpersonal relationships. Formal social control can be seen as the foundation of society. For example laws , statues and all forms of public law to maintain order are seen as Formal social control. Just like its opposite faction Formal social control a wide umbrella which covers positive aspects such a promotion, recognition and even medals. A life example of this would be the Noble Peace Prize. Since it was first awarded in 1901 people have strived to be receive this form of recognition. Also because this award is of the highest caliber people have worked and strayed away from the non-productive and destruction activities that would lesson their chances to receive this award. This can be seen a control because people have changed their life habits to revolve around this award. The method of Formal social control is useful in work environments because maintains a form a civility and productivity. With a wide spectrum of control from promotions to being fired a notion is understood in the workplace that every action has a circumstance and it depends only what effort given. Informal Social control is not always helpful in work environments because what one person feels in appropriate may not be to the next person. From body language to the Nobel Peace Prize ones recognition and response to another person’s actions is seen as a form of social control. Both Formal and Informal control have a wide umbrella of positive and negative attributes.
